Are you struggling with the school holidays this Summer? Lockdown has left many families in Leeds feeling isolated, with limited options for travelling or participating in the family-friendly activities we usually rely on and many of us are missing socialising with other families.
Leeds Dads has got you covered!
We are hosting a socially distanced picnic at Roundhay Park on Sunday 23 August to help safely connect families with same-age children. The event is aimed at babies, toddlers and children up to 11 years old.
We will be able to safely host a limited number of families, split into 2 sessions so prior booking is essential in order for us to safeguard the event, comply with NHS Track & Trace and match your family with same-age children.
What to expect
Our volunteers will set up a sanitation station with water, ice-creams and bubbles and a clearly marked play zone. Just bring your own picnic blanket, food (no food sharing beyond your household please) and some toys if you wish. All toys must be wooden or plastic only so we can sanitise them before and after children play with them.
Families and their picnic blankets will be positioned by our volunteers. There will be six designated picnic areas that will be roped off from the public. Each designated picnic area will be limited to six people comprising of up to two families. If two families are in the same designated picnic area then they will be at least a meter apart but with a ‘play area’ between the two families meaning that the children can play whilst parents talk, at a safe social distance!
There will be two sessions, 11:30-13:00 and 13:30-15:00, each limited to a maximum of six groups of six people. Please note, the morning session is now at capacity.
To enquire about this event, please complete our registration form at https://leedsdads.org/picnic. We are complying with the NHS Track & Trace system so you will need to confirm the ages of your children, which session you would like to sign up for and that you have not displayed any symptoms of Covid-19 in the past 10 days.
Our aim is to connect people so they can make new friends, whilst still following the recommended government guidelines for Covid-19.
