Leeds Dads started by founder Errol Murray who was a struggling new Dad. His daughter’s Mum had made lots of friends with other parents and he noticed that whilst there was a lot of support available for Mums in Leeds, he was left feeling isolated and excluded from activities as a Dad.

He sent an email to some friends who had recently had babies and 3 other Dads agreed to meet in Leeds City Museum with their kids for a coffee and a playdate. Fast forward 12 years and Leeds Dads is a beloved charity that supports over 1,000 dads per year with their mental wellbeing. Just looking at what we achieved in 2023 makes us feel proud (and tired!)

As the demand for quality support for Dads in Leeds grows ever higher, the funding available to support our work has only grown smaller. We are surviving on a lot of goodwill from community organisations and our events are delivered by volunteers but as we deliver multiple events each week, we are struggling to meet our costs. Although we have switched our model from free events to PAYF events, after 12 years of austerity, donations are a drop in the bucket and even tightening our belts by not running Dadstastic Day (our beloved family fathers day celebration) this year has only left us with enough funds to continue until Summer 2024.

Why do our events matter so much?
Let’s hear from some of our Dads community about the difference we make

We know the ripple effect that supporting Dads has, so let’s talk to your employers about giving back.

Please email info@leedsdads.org to let us know the contact at work who can talk to use about a donation. We will co-write the pitch email with you and take it from there.

What can Leeds Dads do with your funding?
£4,000 will fund 1 x annual Dadstastic Day supporting 500 families
£1000 will fund 10 x Stay & Play sessions, 10 x Breakfast Club sessions or 10 x Soft Play sessions supporting over 225 Dads or 3 x Forest School sessions supporting 100 Dads
£500 will fund 10 x Dads & Kids Walks supporting 150 Dads or 10 x 5aSide football matches supporting 100 Dads
